In short: YES!
If you’ve followed me for less than one day you know EXACTLY how I feel about this topic. It’s pretty much a non-negotiable part of my life everyday. Personal Development ranks up in the top 3 things I MUST do between opening my eyes and going back to dreamland.
What are the other two? Exercise and spending uninterrupted time with family.
So, if I’m pro-personal development why write this blog?
Simple, to share my journey so it may help you with yours!
At times I didn’t make personal development a main focus, at times it was all I thought about. For me it’s all about balance and finding what works best for you!
I hope my journey impacts you in a way that is needed right now to take your personal development to the next level!
One of the first challenges is that the world of personal development is SO BIG! There are many options, “gurus”, books, audios, speakers, etc – how do you choose?
Where do you start? What do you do?
I’ve been exactly where you are right now.
We all excel and struggle at different times with different things. Therefore we all need different personal development at different times!
Here are three books that I’m reading right now:
My Personal Growth Journey
Looking back on my journey with personal development makes me realize how thankful I am for mentors who impacted me back then (at the time I didn’t see it as that).
They were always directing me to where I needed to go in order to grow. Watch this. Read that. Go here.
When I was younger school came to me easily but approaching college my teachers KNEW I need to learn how to study or I was FAIL.
Did they say, “You suck at studying and need to learn how.”?
Nope, they recommended tools that would help me EXCEL to the next level.
Did I listen at that time? Nope.
The first test I was graded on in college I got a D! WHAT?
But, I’m thankful they set me up to dive into that subject and become a master at studying.
What about sports?
Coaches showed me how to study other top athletes. This helped me develop skills at a faster rate than anyone around me because I had learned to LISTEN to those who were in mentorship/coaching roles.
So, is this all about reading a book?
Nope, it’s about finding what works best for you that will take you where you want to go.
CAUTION: look for those who have created RESULTS you want to achieve, not just because someone said they “know what they are talking about”.
One of my favorite places is YouTube University (there isn’t a real one)! You can find so much and it’s completely free on YouTube!
Seek out someone who is where you want to be and ASK THEM HOW! They are waiting for people who want to change their lives with real action!
You can do ALL of the personal growth you want but without action you’ll never get to where you want to go!
Usually what is missing: ACTION.
Be aware and MOVE into action.
What you learn in one subject might not apply to something else – always look to personal development!
Don’t let others control your day, it’s yours, take it back! For me the solution was starting the day right, enter My Miracle Morning!
I challenge you to do one thing right now:
Google: Miracle Morning. Listen to it, absorb it, do it.
One of the BEST ways for personal development to become part of your world is attending a LIVE EVENT.
One final thought: SET A BUDGET for personal development. This will include books, events, audios, subscriptions, etc. By doing this you’ll put focus on what you want to do and what is in your budget.
